Gross Domestic Product:
Fourth Quarter 2004
Real gross domestic product, the output of goods and services produced by labor and property
located in the United States, increased at an annual rate of 3.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2004,
according to final estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the third quarter, real
GDP increased 4.0 percent.
The major contributors to the increase in real GDP in the fourth quarter were personal
consumption expenditures (PCE), equipment and software, and private inventory investment. Imports,
which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, increased.
New Combinations
Yahoo! HotJobs, provider of online recruiting and HR technology, announced a
distribution relationship with 4Jobs.com, a unique and
diverse network of niche web sites, which
will add more than 6,000 local and industry-specific sites to the Yahoo! HotJobs network. HotJobs job
listings will be exhibited across this network of sites, providing
companies with exposure to local and highly-specialized talent.
Taleo acquired
Recruitforce.com, which
provides technology for its new on-demand staffing management solution. Based on this acquisition, Taleo Business Edition
begins with more than 100 customers in 30 countries. Taleo hired all of the employees of Recruitforce.com. Terms of the deal
have not been disclosed.
AIRS, provider of sourcing solutions for talent acquisition professionals, announced an alliance
partnership with Spoke Software, provider of a
relationship network for prospect identification and lead generation for sales professionals.
