Survey Says...
By the year 2010, over half the country's workers will be over 40. For those workers at the top of
the pay scale, age discrimination has become a large concern. According to a survey conducted by
TheLadders.com, a $100,000+ jobs Web site,
69% of executives said they've been the victims of age discrimination when applying for a job.
51% plan to continue working beyond retirement.

New York
The
New York Fire Department funded to bolster its minority recruiting efforts. Fire Commissioner
Nicholas Scoppetta announced that
Mayor Bloomberg has approved an additional $1.376 million for the FDNY Equal Opportunity Unit
and the Recruitment and Diversity Initiatives Unit in the fiscal 2006 budget.
Minnesota and Georgia
Popular Science magazine has ranked Minneapolis (100) and Atlanta as
"Technopolis'," top two in the nation in terms of technology. To compile
the list, the magazine chose 36 technology indicators based on expert and staff
opinion. They were grouped into six broad categories: Transportation,
Connected Citizens, Medical, Jobs, Education and Energy. Atlanta scored a 98
out of a possible 100, a score eclipsed by only Minneapolis (100).
