The Employment Situation: January 2005. Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 146,000 in January and the unem-
ployment rate decreased to 5.2 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the
U.S. Department of Labor reported today. Job growth continued in several ser-
vice-providing industries, while manufacturing employment declined over the
month.
Reveille
Dice Inc., the job board for technology, engineering, and security-cleared professionals, releases its 2004 Annual Salary Survey, which finds that that average salaries for technology professionals declined in 2004. The survey points to particular changes in the technology landscape and details key industry trends.
AdBumb, an online advertising newsletter, gets a facelift, including a major design and formatting overhaul.
According to the ExecuNet Executive Employment Outlook survey in January, executives continue to see growth in the job market and remain cautiously optimistic that conditions will continue to improve in the months ahead.
