Personal Income And Outlays: December 2004. Personal income increased $360.9 billion (3.7 percent) and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $354.4 billion (4.0 percent) in December. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $66.4 billion (0.8 percent). In November, personal income increased $41.4 billion (0.4 percent), DPI increased $36.9 billion (0.4 percent), and PCE increased $31.5 billion (0.4 percent), based on revised estimates.

A new Federal law significantly increases workplace protections for employees on military leave. The newly passed Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004 increases, from 18 months to 24 months, the maximum length of time that employers must offer employer-sponsored health coverage under USERRA to employees on military leave. The Act also requires every employer to notify all employees annually of their legal rights under USERRA. Employers must comply with this notification requirement no later than March 10, 2005.
