From the Bureau
The Employment Situation: November 2004. Employment rose in November, and the unemployment rate, at 5.4 percent, was essentially unchanged. Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 112,000 over the month, with job gains in several service-providing industries.

Monster Index
The Monster Employment Index rose to its highest level, 117, indicating growth in online job demand and online job recruitment activity. During the month of November, 10 out of 20 industries tracked by the index saw slight increases in online job demand. Industries that included the greatest increases include professional, scientific and technical services, and utilities. Industries that remained essentially unchanged included manufacturing, construction, and public administrations, while management of companies and enterprises, accommodation and food services, and finance and insurance all saw declines of varying degrees.

Reveille
Pilat Technologies International, provider of talent management software HR Pulse, and compensation specialists Stewart Daly will integrate their software which would allow for performance management and compensation to be managed within one system.

HR.com will unveil its redesigned website, featuring a daily format, new interest areas, and a subscription model, by the end of the month.

According to Crains's New York, job-hopping is back with a vengeance. After a lengthy opportunity drought, white-collar workers have found themselves in a world of plenty. Firms are firing up their hiring engines to take advantage of the economic rebound, often poaching from other companies in the process. Meanwhile, employers are discovering that if they want talent, they are going to have to pay for it.
