New Combinations
WisconsinJobs.com, part of the local career website network LocalCareers.com, has acquired GreatJobsWI.com. The acquisition of this site gives WisconsinJobs.com an enhanced online presence and an increase in job seeker traffic.
Reveille
Executive search firm Korn/Ferry International opens an athletic director search division, which will be run out of the Dallas office. This new division is part of Korn/Ferry's education practice and will fill needs for senior-level athletics administration talent at colleges and universities.
PeopleSoft Corp. fires its chief executive Craig Conway shortly before U.S. antitrust regulators said they would drop their case against Oracle Corp. and its $7.7 billion hostile bid for the company. The news sent PeopleSoft stock up more than 14 percent and past Oracle's $21-per-share offer on investor expectations that Oracle could now reach a deal for the corporate software vendor at a higher price. According to PeopleSoft, independent directors voted unanimously to dismiss Conway, citing a "loss of confidence" in his leadership. PeopleSoft founder and chairman, Dave Duffield, took over as CEO.
Four central European web portals merge their job search sites to enable employers operating in Central Europe to seamlessly recruit employees from among all four countries. The alliance also takes on global job board Monster Worldwide, which has expanded into that area. The association ONREA (OnLine Recruitment Alliance) consists of Pracuj.pl (Poland), Jobs.cz (Czech Republic), Profession.hu (Hungary), and Profesia.sk (Solvakia).
Eliyon Technologies, a provider of business people information, is now a Global Underwriter for The Human Capital Institute, and will fund critical research and training events.
HireAbility.com, provider of integrated recruiting software and services, upgrades its ALEX resume processor with new features and enhancements, which include fully supported languages and address formats, an online client interface to manage proprietary skill lists, and fast integration into existing systems.
New Combinations
The recently completed COMSYS Holding / Venturi Partners Inc. merger creates one of the largest U.S. companies focused solely on IT staffing and complementary services, including vendor management and project solutions services. The new company, COMSYS IT Partners Inc., will trade under the symbol "CITP" on the Nasdaq.

Miller Advertising, a full-service ad agency with a focus on
recruitment advertising and branding, opens a new office in northern California.
Recruiter Confidence
Recruiter Confidence Index, conducted by conducted by ExecuNet, the executive recruiting network, reveals that recruiters expect strong growth for the executive employment market through the first quarter of 2005.
