State Personal Income: Second Quarter 2004. Personal income for the Nation grew 1.5 percent in the second quarter of 2004, the fastest pace in more than 3 years, according to new estimates. The Rocky Mountain and Far West regions grew faster than any other regions, growing 1.8 percent and 1.7 percent respectively. The New England and the Great Lakes regions registered the weakest growth, at 0.9 percent and 1.2 percent respectively. These two regions have generally lagged the Nation during the last 4 years.
Medical and Retirement Plans Coverage. The share of workers with employer-provided medical care and retirement benefits plans declined over the last decade. Medical care covered 63 percent of workers in 1992–1993, compared with 45 percent in 2003. Declines in retirement plan coverage were less dramatic; such plans covered 53 percent of workers in 1992–1993, compared with 49 percent in 2003.

New Combinations Pacel Corporation, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based provider of Human Resource Outsourcing solutions to small and medium-sized businesses will acquire Rossar HR, a Pennsylvania provider of human resource services doing business as YourStaff Solutions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
