The Employment Situation: July 2004. Nonfarm employment was little changed in July, and the unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 5.5 percent. Employment levels in most of the major industry sectors were little changed over the month.
Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
In the week ending July 31, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 336,000, a decrease of 11,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 347,000. The 4-week moving average was 343,500, an increase of 6,750 from the previous week's revised average of 336,750.

CareerBuilder.com survey, "The Boss: 2004," revealed disappointment in ability, integrity, and management style with 32 percent of workers stating they are dissatisfied with their boss's overall work performance. 84 percent say the economy has hindered their ability to change jobs in recent years.
