Dilbert Would Be Proud The Washington Post reports on new research out of the University of Iowa, which found that of the nearly 1,000 HR managers and executives (with an average of 14 years in the field), who were asked questions that tested their knowledge of basic aspects of employee performance, many, well, flunked. The findings show that people in business, who are supposed to know the most about employees, actually seem to know surprisingly little.

New Combinations
Kforce and
Hall, Kinion & Associates have finanlized an amended agreement and plan of merger that modifies the terms of the previously announced proposed merger. Effective immediately, Kforce will assume operating management of Hall, Kinion under a management agreement. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2004.

Recruitmax, a global provider of workforce management software and services, releases a white paper outlining the shortage of healthcare professionals. The paper details workforce management issues in healthcare and solutions to alleviate the shortage, and discusses how technology and process improvements can help hospitals and healthcare facilities meet their staffing goals. Recruitforce.com, a provider of on-demand hiring management solutions, reports that the San Francisco Chronicle will use the its state-of-the-art hiring management service to replace its in-house system.
