Costly Metrics
According to the 2003 Recruiting Metrics and Performance Benchmark Report from the Human Capital Metrics Consortium, which surveyed hiring managers from 1500 organizations, finds that 46 percent of the organizations participating in the survey measure hiring manager satisfaction, which is considered a crucial benchmark for organizations to use when measuring their effectiveness in recruiting talent to their organization. The report also funds that in 2003, organizations were less efficient in their hiring. The Recruiting Efficiency Index (REI) for 2002 rose from 11.6 percent to 13.7 percent, which translates to an additional $920 in recruiting costs for every $40,000 in new employee compensation.
Reveille
Microsoft is using the Unicru Total Workforce Acquisition solution as the platform for its Staffing.NET recruiting initiative. Unicru also reports that secured more than $43 million in new contracts in 2003, an 80-percent increase from 2002.
Kenexa, a provider of comprehensive human resource solutions, introduces Kenexa Recruiter Express, a smaller version of the company's flagship product. Express is designed specifically for companies with fewer than 1,000 employees and less than 3 recruiters onsite. The company also reports that Denver-based University Physicians, Inc. has chosen Express to power its recruiting needs.
Affordable Housing Called 'Workforce' Issue
The president of the National Association of Home Builders wants to expand the term workforce housing to include "the butcher, baker and proverbial candlestick maker who have been forced to live 60, 70 or 80 miles away from where they, too, perform their everyday tasks."
