Personal income increased $18.8 billion (0.2 percent) and disposable personal income increased $18.5 billion (0.2 percent) in December. Personal consumption expenditures increased $35.3 billion (0.4 percent).
Real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 4.0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2003, according to advance estimates. In the third quarter, real GDP increased 8.2 percent.

A new partnership between Unicru and
Brainbench will integrate the Brainbench suite of skills assessments with Unicru's Total Workforce Acquisition solution.
According to the quarterly Bay Area Business Confidence Survey from the Bay Area Council, one-third of Bay Area companies now plan to increase their workforce in the next 6 months and only 7 percent plan reductions, a big jump from previous months. Another 55 percent say they will keep their employee level stable.
Of the 504 CEOs and senior business executives confidentially surveyed in the nine Bay Area counties, 27 percent plan to increase their employee rolls by up to 10 percent, 5 percent of them plan to increase between 11 to 25 percent, and 2 percent of them plan to increase between 26 to 50 percent.
