From the Bureau
The seasonally adjusted annual rates of productivity growth in the third quarter are 8.6 percent in the business sector, and 9.4 percent in the nonfarm business sector. In both sectors, upward revisions to productivity reflect much larger upward revisions to output than to hours.

In manufacturing, revised productivity increases in the third quarter are 9.0 percent in manufacturing, 14.8 percent in durable goods manufacturing, and 3.1 percent in nondurable goods manufacturing.

New Combinations
Kforce and Hall, Kinion & Associates have executed an Agreement and Plan of Merger, which is to be accomplished through a stock-for-stock exchange. The combined companies will operate from approximately 80 offices in 45 markets.

Reveille
Yahoo! HotJobs offers, Express Jobs Packs, a new self-service product that allows recruiters to cost-effectively manage the hiring process with features, such as post the ability to post up to 99 job ads as needed throughout the year, draft highly detailed, targeted job descriptions, and manage employment opportunities.

Silicon Valley.com reports on a national survey which indicates that employees' propensity to quit is virtually unchanged since 2000. Half the workers said they'd jump to another company for just an extra $1,000 in stock or a better chance to earn a $5,000 bonus. Read on… Nearly one-in-four workers say they are currently dissatisfied with their jobs, a 20-percent increase over 2001. Six-in-ten workers say they plan to leave their jobs for other pursuits in the next 2 years. These statistics and others can be found in "At Work 2003: Past, Present and Future" from CareerBuilder.com.
