Regional and State unemployment rates were generally unchanged or slightly lower in October. All 4 regions and 37 States recorded shifts of 0.3 percentage point or less in their unemployment rates. The national jobless rate was essentially unchanged over the month at 6.0 percent. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 35 States and the District of Columbia in October.
Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
In the week ending November 15, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 355,000, a decrease of 15,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 370,000. The 4-week moving average was 367,250, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week's revised average of 376,250. Read on …
