Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by Industry: Private services-producing industries led a broad-based economic rebound in 2002 as most industry groups contributed to stronger growth in real GDP. In 2002, real GDP growth increased to 2.4 percent from 0.3 percent in 2001. Real GDP for private services-producing industries increased 2.8 percent in 2002. For private goods-producing industries, it increased 1.3 percent.

The New York Times Job Market, 60 percent of job seekers recently surveyed say they respond to an average of 69 job listings posted either online or in newspapers and, on average, spend seven hours per week reviewing recruitment advertisements. By the same token, hiring managers say they typically use a variety of sources to fill positions from outside their organizations and to identify the highest quality candidates. Hiring managers from organizations with fewer than 100 employees say they spend an average of 3 hours per week screening resumes, while those at companies with 100+ employees say they spend an average of 6 hours per week screening resumes.
