Numbers Updates
The New Zealand Herald reports that job advertising in New Zealand newspapers fell 2 percent in February to levels seen a year ago. The monthly fall in job ads did not undermine the strength of the labor market. Most recent figures showed New Zealand's unemployment rate fell to a 15-year low in December to 4.9 percent.
Mercury News tells us that statewide job-loss numbers released last month by the California State Employment Development Department were wrong. The State gained 28,500 jobs on a seasonally adjusted basis from December to January rather than the reported loss of 10,500 jobs during. California's unemployment rate, was 6.5 percent in January.
