In the business sector, the revised productivity rates for Fourth Quarter 2002 increased by 0.3 percent and the nonfarm business sector increased by 0.8 percent. In both sectors, the annual averages also increased 4.8 percent.
In the manufacturing sector the revised rates shown productivity only rose 0.1 percent in the fourth quarter, reflecting downward revisions to output per hour in both the
durable and nondurable goods manufacturing subsectors.
Total nonfarm payroll
employment fell by 308,000 in February, while the unemployment rate was about unchanged at 5.8. Job losses were widespread, with retail trade and services posting especially large declines.

New Combinations
Chicago-based executive search firm DHR International acquires executive search and financial management consulting firm Dragonswood Advisors, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jay Knowles, founder of Dragonswood Advisors, will join DHR as an executive vice president in the Pittsburgh office.
William Mills Agency, a public relations firm serving the financial services industry, acquired HeadStrongPR, a public relations firm, for an undisclosed amount.
