The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.2 percent in September, before seasonal adjustment. The September level of 181.0 was 1.5 percent higher than its level in September 2001.
The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers
(CPI-W) also rose 0.2 percent in September, prior to seasonal adjustment.
The September level of 177.0 was 1.3 percent higher than the index in
September 2001.
Real average weekly earnings increased by 0.7 percent from August to
September after seasonal adjustment, according to preliminary data. A 0.6-percent increase in average weekly hours and a 0.3-percent gain in average hourly earnings were partially offset by a 0.2-percent increase in CPI-W.
