Court Updates
Associated Press reports on two Supreme Court decisions. In the case of Chevron v. Echazabal, 01-1406, the Supreme Court ruled that employers may deny a job to disabled workers, who face serious risks to their own health or safety. It said a U.S. appeals court was wrong in ruling that employers must hire disabled workers, even if the job poses a direct threat to their health or safety.
In the case of National Railroad Passenger Corp. v. Morgan, 00-1614, the Supreme Court made it easier for victims to complain about long-term job discrimination or harassment, ruling that statutes of limitations do not always apply when shabby treatment is extended over a period of months or years.

Personic, provider of human capital management solutions, has ceased operations after its secured lender Sand Hill Capital, in an unheard of move, foreclosed on a $9 million loan to the company. It has been reported that a public auction was held earlier this week to sell the company's assets. Sources tell us that certain representatives for the company have registered a new domain name. More on Personic in Thursday's ERN.
