The Employment Cost Index for total compensation increased 3.9 percent (civilian workers, not seasonally adjusted) for the year ended March 2002. The Employment Cost Index, a component of the National Compensation Survey, measures changes in compensation costs, which include wages, salaries, and employer costs for employee benefits.

Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
In the week ending April 20, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 421,000, a decrease of 31,000 from the previous week's revised figure.
