Labor Shortage
Check out John Sumser's article in the Electronic Recruiting News.
From the Bureau
Payroll employment and the unemployment rates were little changed in March. Manufacturing and construction each lost nearly 40,000 jobs, but services employment grew substantially. Both the manufacturing workweek and overtime hours rose over the month.
In February, 266
metropolitan areas recorded higher unemployment rates than a year earlier, 40 areas had lower rates, and 16 areas had rates that were unchanged. Thirteen metropolitan areas had jobless rates of at least 10.0 percent, eight of which were located in California's agricultural Central Valley. Sixteen areas posted unemployment rates below 3.0 percent,
with nine located in the South and five in the Midwest. The national unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, not seasonally adjusted, in February. (Data for the nine metropolitan areas in Michigan were not available at the time of release.)

A Sour Note
For those of you with an ID user name and/or receive email through Yahoo!, you may want to read about two revised policies at the site.
The site has revised its privacy policy so that "Web Beacon" bugs can be used to follow you around on the Internet, tracking sites you visit. What you do is then sent back to Yahoo! for "marketing purposes." This requires you to Opt-Out if you do not want to be tracked. This also means that each time you delete the cookies on your hard drive, you will have to re-opt out or the bugs will be reactivated.
The site also has recently changed their programming to ENABLE their partners to email you "information" (read: spam) if you don't actively opt out. To do so, go to "Account Information" (at the top of the Yahoo! page) and go to "Edit Marketing Preferences," and chose your options.
