Dice 2001 Annual Salary Survey
The survey of more than 61,000 technology professionals indicated that technology salaries, averaging $68,400 in 2001, were on the rise in 2001 before dropping off in the fourth quarter. Yet, amidst the fourth quarter decline, specific job titles and industries have seen salaries increase. The survey also found that technology job demand is beginning to stabilize, with cities like Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. experiencing increased job demand, and that the salary gender gap widened, with women's salaries averaging 12 percent less than their male counterparts. The gap in salaries was evident even in the top paying position for women, with male IT managers averaging $101,500, to females' $96,700.
