JobOptions/BTM Job-Listing Index (JLI)
Although the pace of announced job layoffs accelerated over the past week, JLI also edged up modestly. For the week ending September 24, the index rose by 2.4 percent to 347.5, which remained considerably below the August monthly average - yet it has been creeping higher. On a 4-week moving average basis, JLI increased by 2.5 percent from the prior week, but was still off 46.2 percent from the same week of the prior year. (Go to Latest Weekly Release.)
The Implications
Nearly 5,700 HR professionals responded to an SHRM survey on the implications of the September 11 attacks on human resources with workplace changes, such as higher security provisions, changes in employee travel, and locations in high-rise buildings.
