JobOptions/BTM Job-Listing Index
With large layoff announcements in the airline industry as a result of the terrorist attacks, it was surprising that the index edged up modestly over the last week. For the week ending September 17, the index rose by 1.6 percent to 339.3, which remained considerably below the August monthly average of 576.1. On a 4-week moving average basis, the index increased by 2.7 percent from the prior week. (Go to Latest Weekly Release.)
Virus Update
McAfee reports seeing a large and growing number of systems infected with the W32/Nimda@MM. This is a HIGH RISK virus that is spread via email, and spreads via open shares, the Microsoft Web Folder Transversal vulnerability (also used by W32/CodeBlue), and a Microsoft content-type spoofing vulnerability.
New Combinations
TeamStaff has sold its El Paso PEO operation to American Staff Resources Corporation. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Reveille
Icarian selects Business Objects to extend the overall reporting capabilities of its Workforce Solution Suite. Extract Reporting is the first of three advanced analytic applications to be delivered as part of the suite.
Personic releases Personic Express, a web-based subscription application built entirely on Microsoft technology and incorporating elements of the Microsoft .NET platform.
