At look at focus on effectiveness and cycle reduction in today's Electronic Recruiting News.
Back From the Brink of Obscurity
An interesting read in The Washington Post about a report by the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century, co-chaired by former senator Warren B. Rudman (R-N.H.). A significant problem, the study found, is that talented people don't want to work for the government anymore. One reason is that the private sector pays vastly higher salaries. Another reason "is that there is no single overarching motivation to entice patriotic Americans to public service as there was during the Cold War," a situation that may have changed this week.

Good News Updates
CareerEngine's Michael Susi emailed to say that the company servers are working, email is back up and running, and the XML feed will be operational in about a week. The status of both divisions, Network and ASP, is full-speed ahead.
Tony Lee of CareerJournal.com also emailed to say that there have been no casualties at Dow Jones & Co., which is amazing since its corporate headquarters is located across the street from WTC. The building appears to be a total loss, and operations have been moved to the Princeton, New Jersey, offices.
