New Combinations
Tribune Co. and fellow newspaper publisher Knight Ridder Inc. plan to buy HeadHunter.net in a cash deal valued at about $200 million. According to a company press release, Tribune and Knight Ridder would each contribute about half of the $9.25 per share purchase price for the deal, which would combine HeadHunter with CareerBuilder Inc., also backed by both publishers. The newspapers will begin branding their newspaper recruitment sections as ''CareerBuilder help-wanted'' beginning late next month.

Reveille
A new partnership will allow CAPS (Consulting and Placement Solutions) software clients access to the job board evaluation and job posting services of WhoToChoose.com.

A new licensing agreement will allow Saba Learning Exchange enterprises access to iGeneration online IT assessment services.

Couldn't Pass This Up
If you are among those who would like to stop receiving free AOL CDs in the mail, you may want to join the No More AOL CDs campaign. Being clear that all they want to do is put an end to the unrequested distribution of the CDs, the campaign's organizers intend to collect 1 million of them and deliver them to company headquarters. Having collected about 40 CDs, and with 999,960 more to go, they could use some help. Personally, I string them across my garden to scare away deer and other nibblers. Thanks to SiliconValley.com for bringing this to our attention.
