The JobOptions/BTM Job-Listing Index
The index fell by 3.4 percent in the latest week as it continued to adjust to the surge experienced in late July. Although the index declined in the past 2 weeks, it remained solidly above its July average. On a 4-week moving average basis, the index increased for the fourth consecutive week. Overblown?
A recent report indicates that the impact on employment by the collapse of Internet-based companies in Southern California may be overstated. According to Alexander X, Inc., researching technology trends in California, the employment drop in the IT sector is no greater than the general decrease in business as a whole in Southern California. The positive impact on employment in prior years was blown way out of proportion, as much of the hype was due to the phenomenal valuations for both private and public Internet companies and their subsequent collapse. The impact on employment, however, was much less.
New Combinations
experience.com has acquired BrassRingCampus, and will manage and support all of BrassRing's existing undergraduate university recruiting system customers and technology. It is reported that the two companies will work toward an integration between their relationship management systems.
