Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
In the week ending July 7, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 445,000, an increase of 42,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 403,000. The 4-week moving average was 410,750, an increase of 2,500 from the previous week's revised average of 408,250.
Job Opportunity Index
According to the FlipDog.com June/July Job Oportunity Index (JOI), the national supply of jobs is at its highest point in 3 months. The national JOI increased to 34.3 points, pointing to strong hiring practices by U.S. companies. JOI rose in 46 out of 50 States, and all 9 U.S. regions posted gains.
