According to the results of The 2001 Global 500 Web Site Recruiting Survey, a study conducted by iLogos Research, a division of RecruitSoft, in the past year, the number of Asia-Pacific Global 500 companies with careers sections on their corporate sites rose from 20 percent to 88 percent. Among European Global 500 companies, use rose 10 percent, to 83 percent of all organizations. North American companies rose only one percent, but continue to lead in online recruiting adoption, with 93 percent of companies using sites.

According to The Industry Standard, the French government has hit upon a novel way to prevent large-scale job cuts: Outlaw them. Under the terms of proposed legislation, profitable companies would be restricted from using layoffs to cut costs. Instead, mediators would juggle the demands of employers and employees during large-scale restructuring.
