The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in April, before seasonal adjustment, to a level of 176.9. For the 12-month period ended in April, the CPI-U increased 3.3 percent.
The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) rose 0.5 percent in April, prior to seasonal adjustment. The April level of 173.5 was 3.3 percent higher than the index in April 2000.
Real average weekly earnings were about unchanged from March to April after seasonal adjustment, according to preliminary data. A 0.4-percent increase in average hourly earnings was offset by a 0.4-rise in the CPI-W. Average weekly hours were unchanged.

New Combinations
Streaming Interviews, a wholly owned subsidiary of WorldNet Resource Group, will move into the publicly traded arena via a reverse merged agreement with Avatar Alliance. Avatar Alliance will also be arranging seed capital in the amount of $1,250,000 with warrants to provide an additional $1,250,000.
Softbank Corp and its founder Masayoshi Son will sell all remaining stakes in staffing agency Pasona Softbank Inc. to Fuji Staff Group. The amount of the shares sale, which has yet to be finalized, was not disclosed.
5B Technologies Corporation sells its DeltaForce Personnel Services business to a wholly owned subsidiary of The Supporting Cast Inc., a privately owned company based in New York City. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
