Online recruiting site Jobvertise announced free access to its resume database, which can be searched by keyword and location.

The Washington Post reports on Freddie Mac's career transition program and its effects on retention.

The Niches Have It
According to De Bellas & Co., 21 staffing businesses were sold or merged in the first quarter of 2001, continuing the trend of slower reported activity in the staffing industry. Transactions involving specialty staffing firms held steady in the first quarter, with 14 specialty firms acquired. However, transactions involving information technology (IT) staffing firms were again down in the first quarter, with only two IT staffing firms acquired.
