The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in February, before seasonal adjustment, to a level of 175.8. For the 12-month period ended in February, the CPI-U increased 3.5 percent.
The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) also rose 0.4 percent in February, prior to seasonal adjustment. The February level of 172.4 was 3.5 percent higher than the index in February 2000.
Real average weekly earnings declined by 0.1 percent from January to February after seasonal adjustment, according to preliminary data. A 0.5-percent increase in average hourly earnings was offset by a 0.3-percent decrease in average weekly hours and a 0.3-percent increase in the CPI-W.
The JobOptions/BTM Job-Listing Index
The index fell by 3.5 percent over the latest week ending March 19 following a 3.9-percent drop during the prior week. On a 4-week moving average basis, the index declined by 0.4 percent and has declined in three of the last four weeks. (Go to Latest Weekly Release.)

SAS Institute, vendor of analytical customer relationship management solutions, has acquired the business of Intrinsic, a UK-based campaign management software vendor, for an undisclosed sum.
Negotiations for acquisition between International Total Services, Inc. and Brantley Capital Corporation have been terminated.
