Quality of Life ... Workplace Reality
A new survey shows that 91 percent of the polled workers felt quality of life was important in their decision to take their current job. Of those surveyed, 53 percent feel the economy is headed for a recession, and 1 in 5 believes he/she could lose their jobs. Still, only 12 percent of respondents feel less secure in their jobs compared to a year ago. And if they lost their jobs, a full 48 percent say they would hold out for a comparable job.

These companies define which employees create value, build winning strategies to get those people, help employees understand how their actions and decisions affect results, and reward them for superior performance.
Working on the Margins, a report released by the Center of Policy Initiatives, finds that the number of temporary workers in California doubled in the 1990s. The center reports that most temporary workers are paid less than their counterparts and work without medical or pension benefits, leaving them with job and income instability. SiliconValley.com reports on this renewed debate.
