Recruiting Trends Piece Well Received
The staff would like to thank readers for all of the positive feedback on the 2001 trends. The response was overwhelming. If you did not get a chance to download all 24 Trends yesterday, take a look at one trend today on the Electronic Recruiting News.

Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment
In October, 200 metropolitan areas recorded unemployment rates below the U.S. average (3.6 percent, not seasonally adjusted), while 124 areas registered higher rates, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Thirty-five metropolitan areas had jobless rates below 2.0 percent, with 19 of these located in the Midwest, 8 in New England, and 7 in the South. Among the six areas with rates above 10.0 percent, four were in the West and two were in the South. JobOptions/BTM Job-Listing Index
The index declined by 8.7 percent over the latest week ending November 27, attributed to the Thanksgiving Day holiday and reduced seasonal demand for workers as the yearend approaches. But the year-over-year momentum in the index remained healthy. (Go to Latest Weekly Release.)

Getting There
The Washington Post reports on the problem of suburban job openings, an urban workforce without cars, and the coordination of services to overcome the problem.

Check Out the Competition
TheDigitalRecruiter.com will launch several job market sites targeted to specific geographic regions: Boston, California, Chicago, Florida, New York, and Los Angeles; and specific industries: computer jobs and high-tech jobs.

New Combinations
Achievement Tec, Inc., developer of corporate human resource management solutions, such as Virtual HR Center, Career Direction, and My Career Direction, was acquired in a stock-for-stock merger by Silver Ramona Mining Company (OTCBB:SIVR), a publicly traded corporation.

PEO TeamStaff and online business center BrightLane.com have created a business process outsourcing services organization. The venture is designed to provide small and mid-market businesses with alternative outsourcing choices. TeamStaff recently announced its intention to acquire Paradyme Human Resources Corporation.

Reveille
Monster.com's custom online recruiting services has been extended to the I-Group HotBank portfolio of incubated companies.

E-Cruiter.com releases version 3.0 offers enhancements, including third-party posting capabilities and referral and agency tracking.
