24 Electronic Recruiting Trends 2000
John Sumser defines 24 Trends influencing the Recruiting Industry. Review the list and get a taste of the material that you will find in the 2001 Electronic Recruiting Index.
Employment Outlook Survey
More than one in four U.S. companies expect to hire more workers in the first quarter of 2001, a record high for first-quarter employment expectations, according to Manpower. Results of the national survey of 16,000 business firms indicate that 27 percent expect further hiring early in the new year, 10 percent plan staffing decreases, 58 percent anticipate no change, and 5 percent are uncertain.
College Hiring
Employers forecast a 23.4-percent increase in college hiring, according to Job Outlook 2001 survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Hiring projections look strongest in the West, where employers project college hiring to rocket up 33.6 percent, but all regions of the country project healthy hiring increases.
Interestingly enough, NACE's Year 2000 Employer Benchmark Survey shows that employers report spending less time and money to recruit new college grads. Employers indicated that they had to interview 4.5 college candidates for every one they hired during the 1999-2000 recruiting season.
