What's Good for the Goose ...
Fortune Magazine's annual ranking of America's top cities for businesses, in order are: New York, San Francisco, Chicago, the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, and San Jose. The rankings included the opinions of top-level executives about where they like to do business.
It is interesting to note that last month the techies.com Affordability Index ranked the five least affordable markets as New York City, the Bay Area, San Diego, Boston, and Los Angeles. (D.C. isn't cheap, either.).
OSHA Rules
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issues new regulations aimed at reducing job-related injuries caused by repetitive motion. Those who dispute it have already filed court challenges.
New Combinations
Watson Wyatt & Company Holdings has acquired Talisman Technologies Corporation, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in advising clients on web-based recruiting and staffing.
USA Staffing, a temporary and permanent placement employment agency, has acquired CIM Temporary Services, Inc. of Conover, North Carolina. The company reports that this addition will expand its medical staffing division.
