How Down Is Down?
Today's Electronic Recruiting News examines the failure and bloodshed found on the road from startup to success.
From the Horse's Mouth
According to CollegeHire's newly created Student Advisory Council, some of the most common mistakes companies make when recruiting technology students on campus are: to routinely do the same presentations, to not know where or how to advertise to reach target students, to send non-technical people to give technical interviews, to start recruiting at the wrong time, to schedule event during test dates, to not ask for resumes at information sessions, and to try to "buy" students.

New Combinations
The New York Times Company has acquired the business of The Professional Exchange, L.L.C., a national career fair company specializing in technical, health/science, and general career works events. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Standardization In Recruiting
The HR-XML Consortium announced that the new HR-XML Staffing Exchange Protocol was demonstrated by HR companies at the HR Technology Conference this week. The XML-based SEP, currently under review, provides a common method for posting employment opportunities to web-based recruiting sites. The participating companies include eWork Exchange, Icarian, Jobs.com, Novient, and Peopleclick.
