Income and Outlays Personal income increased $21.1 billion,
or 0.3 percent, and disposable personal income increased $19.9
billion, or 0.3 percent, in July, according to the Bureau of
Economic Analysis. Personal consumption expenditures increased
$38.7 billion, or 0.6 percent.
Look Who's In the Recruiting Business CNN
reports that President Clinton directed Education Secretary
Richard Riley to notify school districts about RecruitingTeachers.org,
an online registration clearinghouse to help teachers and school
districts find each other. Now, all they need is help in finding
affordable housing.
Housing Sales Down The
National Association of Realtors reported existing home sales
hit an annual rate of 4.79 million in the month, down 9.8 percent
from the June figure. Despite the slowdown in sales, the median
price of the home still increased to $143,300 from $140,200 in June,
and increase of 5.4 percent from the $136,000 median price of a year
earlier.
