Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Ever the social scientist, John Sumser scrutinizes a species of Job Board under the Electron-ic Recruiting Microscope. It's life cycle may span several incarnations, leading us to ponder the eternal question: animal, vegetable, or moron?
State Personal Income
Vermont, Alaska, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida had the fastest growth in personal income in the first quarter of 2000, according to estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, and Iowa all had declines in personal income.
For the Nation, personal income grew 1.6 percent in the first quarter after growing 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 1999. Prices paid by consumers (as measured by the price index for personal consumption expenditures) increased 0.9 percent in the first quarter after increasing 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter.
In the first quarter, 40 States and the District of Columbia had growth rates in personal income that were above the 0.9-percent increase in prices.
