Regional and State Emloyment and Unemployment
Regional and Sate unemployment rates were relatively stable in May. All 4 regions registered little or no change over the month, and 41 States and the District of Columbia recorded shifts of 0.3 percentage point or less, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. The national jobless rate edged upward to 4.1 percent. Nonfarm employment increased in 36 States in May.
