Internet advertising network 24/7 Media Inc. has filed suit against rival online advertiser DoubleClick Inc. alleging patent infringement. At issue is the use by DoubleClick of an enabling technology for its DART ad serving system that enables it to target specific ads to certain users based on usage patterns.
TMP Worldwide, Monster.com's parent company, sent CareerPath.com a cease and desist letter demanding the company stop providing recruiters with access to Monster.com through Resume Scout, CareerPath's new tool that allows recruiters to use a single search to access multiple resume databases simultaneously. According to TMP, Resume Scout is a spider. CareerPath defines it as "a type of browser that eliminates the extra steps recruiters would otherwise use to search databases one at a time."
