BTM Market Report
The Nasdaq tumbled more than 7 percent during the day, reacting to reports that the U.S. Justice Department wants to break up Microsoft. The US Dollar, however, regained most of its losses and ended up slightly higher against the Euro and the Yen. Focus this week will be on U.S. GDP and the ECB meeting on Thursday. The market is also awaiting news from Moody's regarding a possible downgrade on Japan's credit rating. A single notch downgrade from Japan's Aa1 rating is possible. Hedge funds have been seen building long Usd/Yen positions ahead of the announcement. Overall, this week's events will be potentially bullish for the dollar. Report is as of April 24, 2000 3:30p.m. EST.
