Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
The Department of Labor reports that in the week ending April 15, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 257,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 266,000. The 4-week moving average was 262,500, a decrease of 1,500 from the previous week's revised average of 264,000. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.6 percent for the week ending April 8, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate of 1.6 percent. The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending April 8 were in Texas (+4,050), Alabama (+2,821), Pennsylvania (+2,615), Washington (+2,489), and Tennessee (+2,227), while the largest decreases were in North Carolina (-1,528), Delaware (-769), Maine (-326), Oklahoma (-215), and Nebraska (-4).
