John Sumser considers the merits of several key players providing services to online recruiters. Special attention is paid to two Application Service Providers, and how they might best provide for the future.
Personal Income and Outlays
Personal income increased $58.6 billion (0.7 percent) and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $61.4 billion (0.9 percent) in January, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Dept. of Commerce. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $33.0 billion (0.5 percent).
Creative Perks
The Washington Post and The Atlanta Constitution report on some of
the more creative perks companies have developed for their employees--from down payments on houses to personal assistants.
New Combinations
CareerEngine and Verity, Inc., a provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, announced they have joined efforts to create online tools for matching employers and job seekers faster and more effectively using Verity Information Server. CareerEngine also recently partnered with community-oriented website Jewish.com and The Black World Today.
SkillSet Software, provider of recruitment and workforce management applications, has partnered with Pre-employ.com, allowing both companies to integrate their respective products and streamline the tasks involved in completing the online background screening and verification process.
Check Out The Competition
Telecomcareers.Net is a full-service job site devoted exclusively to telecommunications industry workers.
NoName Interactive allows companies to directly contract its international multimedia staff for the same rate.
Founder's Forum is an online recruitment service offering referral incentives to its members. It is a new membership category within StartupNetwork.com designed to build management teams and advisory boards for high-tech startups.
Gearing Up
Coming on the heels of its Asian Market expansion, Monster.com has signed an agreement with ninemsn, a joint venture owned equally by ecorp and Microsoft Corporation, making it the exclusive job search and career content provider. Additionally, Monster.com announced plans for an Asian joint venture with ecorp, an Internet business based in Sydney, Australia.
BTM Market Report
EURO/USD continued to rebound from its overnight losses. It was able to trade back above the 0.9700 level on some short covering. Also helping EURO/USD was a comment by BDF Trichet who said he was not happy with the present level of the euro. EURO/JPY was able to recover back above the 106.00. USD/JPY mainly was pulled to the mid-109's by the buying in EURO/JPY. The Dow posted strong gains, and rallied back above the 10,000
level, to recover from Friday's sell off. Although the gains from the Dow didn't not have any effect on the dollar. The report is of 3:30p.m., EST, February 28, 2000.
