Career Networks To Capture The Market
According to Forrester Research, career networks will capture 55 percent of the $7.1 billion online recruitment market by Year 2005. These one-stop career management sites will aggregate career services for consumers and recruiters alike because of three components-- a profile database, a jobs database, and a matching engine.
New Combinations
Yahoo! Broadcast Careers and Employment viewers can search job opportunities and the latest episode of CareerTV.net, a show designed to address employment, recruiting, and job-search topics. CareerTV also announced strategic business alliances with AltaVista and Worklife Solutions.
Global staffing services firm, Kelly Services Inc. has acquired Spain's Extra ETT, which specializes in automotive industry. It has also partnered with Ariba Inc. to provide staffing services over the Internet.
CareerEngine announced a distribution partnership with the DAS Group, a full-service advertising company with a specialty in recruitment advertising.
MedLawPlus.com, a bidding system for the purchasing services in the medical, legal, and accounting sectors is expanding into New York City.
Nursefinders, a medical staffing and specialty home health care companies announced the purchase of DSR Medical Management, Inc., which operates six offices in Northern New Jersey.
WetFeet.com announced an agreement with America Online, Inc. to provide its career research and expertise to AOL WorkPlace.
Gearing Up
USA Networks, Inc. and the Walter Kaitz Foundation announced the creation of two minority employment programs dedicated to increasing diversity in the broadcast television and new media industries, and to promote career opportunities for minority students through college affiliations.

MedCAREERS is a new site devoted exclusively to providing career and staffing solutions for healthcare professionals.
Moving Rate Among Americans Declines
According to the Census Bureau, about 16 percent (43 million) of U.S. residents moved from one home to another between March 1997 and March 1998, a decline from the 16.5 percent who moved during the previous 1-year period. The Bureau reported that moving rates decline as people grow older, and only 8.2 percent of homeowners moved during that time. People ages 20 to 29-years old moved the highest rate of all age groups.
