Attack Probe Leads to California Universities
According to the New York Times, authorities probing the source of last week's attacks on Yahoo, eBay, CNN, and other Websites are pursuing leads that point to California universities. Network administrators at the University of California at Santa Barbara confirmed that one of their computers was used to attack CNN's Website. Computers at Stanford and UCLA also were used in the attacks, according to reports.

Market Report Today's activity was on the quiet side, with the dollar seen firming. The dollar strengthened across the board due to the gains made in the U..S stock market. EUR/USD also slipped lower on the ongoing differences between the EU and Austria. It had difficulty sustaining itself above the 0.9900 level, with dealers taking profit above the level. USD/JPY climbed steadily higher, but did not challenge the 109.00 level. The report is of 3:30 p.m., NY, February 14, 2000.
