Bureau of Labor Statistics For December 1999
The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers was unchanged in December, before seasonal adjustment, remaining at a level of 168.3. For the 12-month period ended in December, the CPI-U increased 2.7 percent. The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) also was unchanged in December, prior to seasonal adjustment, and was 2.7 percent higher than in December 1998.
Real Average Weekly Earnings grew by 0.2 percent from November to December after seasonal adjustment. This growth stemmed from a 0.4-percent increase in average hourly earnings, which was partially offset by a 0.3-percent increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. Average weekly hours was unchanged.

PhillyJobs.com, a Pennsylvania-, New Jersey-, and Delaware-area employee staffing and recruiting site, has joined forces with IT Solutions, the technical division of The Placers, to offer local staffing and recruiting resources.
Thayer Capital Partners closed a $276 million acquisition and recapitalization of Career Blazers, Inc., a provider of diversified staffing, training, and technology solutions.
CMGI, Inc. reports it has completed its acquisition of AdForce, Inc.

The investors include Austin Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Crosspoint Ventures, TL Ventures, The Hearst Corporation, Pulitzer, Inc., Essex Investment Management Company, LLC, and Dell Computer Corporation.
