Korn/Ferry International has acquired high-end executive search firm, Hofmann Herbold & Partner, based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Manpower Inc. announced its intention to buy London-based information technology staffing company Elan Group Ltd. for approximately $145 million.
recruitDYNAMICS.com will offer its members skills-assessment tools and certification exams powered by Brainbench.
The Industry Standard has chosen Guru.com as its exclusive provider of contract job sourcing for its recruiting section.
CareerPath.com joins forces with Australian site CareerOne. Just in time for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Sydney and the Winter Games planned for Utah.
CareerEngine will power AdStar.com's online job-posting service. In addition, CareerEngine's network of sites will be available directly to advertisers from Advertise123.com.
Britain's Sage Group reports it is buying Best Software Inc., a company specializing in software for managing assets, human resources and payroll, for 272 million pounds ($446.5 million). Its Best Internet Recruiter software lists jobs online and links them to relevant employment Web sites.
No Support for Teleworking Employees
Although companies recognize that teleworking can significantly improve employee recruitment and retention, a proprietary survey by the American Mangement Association finds that only 7 percent of teleworkers at US-based corporations have been formally trained to work outside their normal office environment.

The Electronic Recruiting Exchange reports on ways to make job descriptions more powerful.
Stock Options May Boost Overtime Pay
The Washington Post reports on yet another opinion letter from the U.S. Department of Labor. Companies that grant stock options to workers who are eligible for overtime may have to include the option profits in the workers' wage base and increase their overtime pay, according to the department's Employment Standards Administration Wage and Hour Division's advisory.
