Housing Crisis Jim Previti, president of the California Building Industry, asked
California's policymakers to resolve to address that state's most
pressing economic challenge: California's housing crisis. Previti
reported that many large companies are having problems recruiting
qualified employees, because of the "sticker shock" prospective
employees encounter when they look for homes in California.

Technology Hiring Predicted To Increase Chief
information officers are optimistic about information technology
hiring in the first quarter of 2000, according to RHI Consulting's Information Technology
Hiring Index. Twenty-five percent of respondents plan to hire
additional personnel in the next three months, while just 3 percent
anticipate staff reductions.
